To inspire and enlighten students, the School of Biomedicine of the College of Chemical Engineering presented their excellent drama “Living Forever in Burning Flames”, which is based on the traditional revolutionary novel Red Rock, a classic story of our Republic heroes, to the graduates on the eve to their leave for various jobs, guiding students to integrate their “small self” into the “big self”. Recently, the drama “Living Forever in Burning Flames” was staged in the auditorium of Shijiazhuang University. The plot of the drama is compact and the characters are full. All the audience seem to be in the stormy revolutionary years, and the performance of more than an hour won the applause of everyone.

Based on the classic novel Red Rock, the drama has been carefully developed by the College of Chemical Engineering/College of Biomedicine Students’ Drama Troupe for half a year. This is the first performance of the drama, and it is also a performance specially dedicated to the graduates of 2024.

When watching the heroic death of Jiang Jie, Xu Yunfeng and others, Wang Ju, a chemistry major of 2020, whose eyes were a little wet, said, “These heroes were actually ordinary people with blood and flesh. They had their relatives, families, and they also had their feelings, but they abandoned all this for their ideal resolutely and determinedly. They are admirable!”

Zhang Mengke, who is about to graduate, still remembers the drama “Love in the Sky” that she watched when she first entered university, and which made her first know the “two bombs hero” Guo Yonghuai, and later she also watched the drama “Counter-attack” that tells the story of the medical team to aid Hubei during the fight against Covid-19, and the drama “Enjoy the Cool Under the Rice” that tells the story of Yuan Longping, the father of hybrid rice. “All these plays tell the stories of our national heroes, and bring me a lot of inspiration and encouragement when I am confused!”

The performers are all from the majors of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Preparations. They are usually busy doing experiments in the laboratory, but they can also perform the drama so well. They have no professional performance guidance, and they have to understand everything of the drama themselves bit by bit. As the students of Science and Technology, they are very busy with their courses, and their rehearsals can only be arranged after the whole day’s class at 8 o’clock in the evening or even the weekend.

“You reap what you sow. The more you pay, the more you reap.” Zhang Xiaolin, a student from the Pharmaceutical Engineering of 2020, was the most impressed. He joined the drama troupe shortly after his admission, and later served as the head of the troupe. He participated in the rehearsal of three dramas successively. “I am especially grateful for the experience of drama troupe, from the values, to cultural literacy, to language expression and communication skills, I have gained a lot.”

Rui Rucheng, a graduate of Pharmaceutical Preparation of 2021, once played Deng Jiaxian in the drama “Bloom of Malan”, who joined the CCP during college, and was admitted to Shenyang Pharmaceutical University and has got the master’s degree. Now he works in a large state-owned enterprise. According to him, rehearsing plays has brought new experiences to his college life and made him gain spiritual growth. “Deng Jiaxian’s experience has been injected into my soul. When faced with some difficulties or difficult choices, I will think how Deng Jiaxian would deal with it, and then my heart is suddenly relieved!” Zhang Ruibo, Rui Ruicheng’s friend, who played Qian Xuesen in the drama “Bloom of Malan”, and joined the army during the university, and was admitted to the graduate school of Tianjin University of Science and Technology, still remembers the advice of the drama troupe instructor, “I hope you can become a backbone of our country like Mr. Qian Xuesen in the future.”

The drama “Living Forever in Burning Flames” is the last ideological and political course taught by the School of Chemical Engineering/School of Biomedicine for the graduates of 2024. The relevant persons in charge of the college hope that the students can be inspired with the classic revolutionary story, and they also believe that these stories can guide students to integrate “small self” into “big self” and show their most beautiful style of youth.
