From July 17th to 19th, the 19th National College Student Intelligent Vehicle Competition North China Division was held grandly at our university. This competition is hosted by the Chinese Society of Automation and organized by our university. Zhuo Qing, Director of the Secretariat and Technical Group Leader of the National College Student Intelligent Car Competition, Wang Wei, Secretary of the Communist Youth League Shijiazhuang Municipal Committee, Chen Liang, Secretary of the School Party Committee, and Vice Presidents Yao Zhenjun, Feng Baoqiang, and Li Juan attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice President Li Juan

At the opening ceremony, Chen Liang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the university, warmly welcoming the leaders, guests, and teachers attending the competition, and extending sincere greetings and wishes to the participating team members from various universities in the North China region. He pointed out that standing on the new journey of the university's "second entrepreneurship", the university party committee has assessed the situation, actively seized the rare historical development opportunity of the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei and the construction of a strong provincial capital, put forward and resolutely implemented the university's "1396" development strategy, vigorously implemented the project of improving students' comprehensive literacy, highlighted the strengthening of practical education, actively promoted innovation and entrepreneurship work, accelerated the construction of an innovation and entrepreneurship education system that organically connects curriculum teaching, entrepreneurship practice, and competition activities, actively organized and supported students to participate in various competition activities, and comprehensively improved students' practical ability and innovation spirit. He stated that Shijiazhuang University attaches great importance to the hosting of this competition. The school will provide high-quality services for the competition with the highest standards, greatest enthusiasm, and strongest measures, create a fair and warm competition environment, and strive to make this competition a "youth event" showcasing scientific and technological works.

From July 18th to July 19th, teams from various groups held preliminary and final matches respectively in the training building and sports stadium. The competition is divided into eight racing groups based on the car models, microcontrollers, sensors, competition tasks, and different participating students: electromagnetic group, lens group, motorcycle group, hovercraft group, intelligent vision group, complete model group, unicycle group, and off-road beacon group. The participating teams use a designated microcontroller series as the core control module, and create a model car that can autonomously recognize roads or targets by adding road sensors, motor drive circuits, and writing corresponding microcontroller software. The car follows the prescribed route or task, and the one with the shortest comprehensive time is considered the winner. The competition has strong comprehensiveness, covering knowledge from multiple disciplines such as control, pattern recognition, sensing technology, electronics, electrical engineering, computer science, machinery, communication, and automotive engineering. After intense and intense competition, the competition resulted in 83 first prizes, 123 second prizes, and 87 third prizes.
The National College Student Intelligent Car Competition is an exploratory engineering practice activity aimed at college students nationwide, guided by the principles of "focusing on cultivation, emphasizing participation, encouraging exploration, and pursuing excellence". It has been successfully held for 18 sessions so far. The competition was selected for the "National Undergraduate Subject Competition Ranking List" released by the Higher Education Association of the Ministry of Education, ranking 11th, and was approved by the Ministry of Education to be included in the National Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform Project funding project. The competition aims to encourage college students to form teams, comprehensively apply multidisciplinary knowledge, propose, analyze, design, develop, and research problems related to the mechanical structure, electronic circuits, motion control, and development and debugging tools of intelligent vehicles, stimulate their interest and potential in engineering technology development and scientific research exploration, advocate the academic atmosphere of integrating theory with practice, seeking truth and practicality, and the humanistic spirit of teamwork.
A total of 95 universities, 438 representative teams, and 1372 participants from five provinces and cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, and Henan participated in the North China competition. The successful hosting of the competition in our university has ignited more students' interest and enthusiasm for technology competitions, providing a greater stage for our school to deepen innovative education and improve students' practical abilities. The university will take this competition as an opportunity to vigorously promote the reform of talent cultivation mode, continuously deepen the reform and innovation of practical teaching, and strive to cultivate high-quality applied talents with social responsibility, innovative spirit and practical ability, comprehensively improving the school's ability to serve regional economic and social development and innovation driven development.
