Recently, Associate Professor Wang Zilong from our university's School of Literature and History was invited to Guangdong Province to participate in the series of events of "South China Book Festival" in 2024. At sub-venues in Jieyang City, the Jieyang Armed Police Detachment's on-duty squadron, Chaonan District of Shantou City, among others, he delivered four lectures on promoting poetry culture.
At the Jieyang Armed Police Detachment's on-duty squadron, Wang Zilong integrating traditional culture with the thought of strengthening the military, delivered a themed lecture titled "Famous Scholars Bring Books into Barracks, Sharing a Close Bond between the Military and People." He also spoke at the Jieyang Reading Promotion Ambassador Cultivation Class, organized by the Jieyang Municipal Publicity Department and hosted by Jieyang Xinhua Bookstore, and explained the competencies and perspectives required of reading promoters in the new era by using examples from poetry culture and local historical humanities. At the Jieyang National Defense Education Library, He unraveled the historical and cultural context behind poems thoroughly and introduced methods for integrating literature and history in reading and learning in Jieyang Book Festival Lecture Hall. In Chaonan District of Shantou City, he participated in events of "Master's Recitation and Analysis of Classics, Enjoying the Fragrance of Books through Poetry” under the South China Book Festival series, where he conducted reading promotion by connecting the culture of Yan and Zhao from Shijiazhuang with the Lingnan culture of Guangdong and incorporating the profound historical and cultural heritage of Chaozhou.

Media outlets such as Nanfang Daily Media Group, Guangdong Radio and Television Station, Jieyang Daily, Shantou TV Station, and Chaonan TV Station covered the events.
This invitation to participate in an out-of-province cultural promotion not only builds a bridge for our faculty members to spread the spirit of Yan and Zhao and the culture of Shijiazhuang across provincial borders but also enhances the university's reputation. It fully demonstrates the social influence of our teachers beyond their regions and the high-quality social service effectiveness under the guidance of the "1396" Development Strategy.
