On the afternoon of April 3rd, the launch ceremony of our school's reading season activity was held grandly in the square in front of the South Campus Library. Party Secretary Chen Liang, President Wang Yongqin, Vice Presidents Feng Baoqiang and Li Juan attended the event, and more than 600 representatives from relevant departments, colleges, and teachers and students jointly participated in the ceremony.
Chen Liang announced the official launch of the book season activities in a lively atmosphere. Li Juan delivered a speech and emphasized that reading is an important way to inherit civilization, enlighten and enhance wisdom. In recent years, our school has made efforts to build a three-dimensional, multi-level, and all-round reading and education system through cultural engineering projects such as the “Cultural Shi Yuan”, “Scholarly Campus”, and “Student Comprehensive Literacy Enhancement”, making reading a trend on campus. She pointed out that the whole school should focus on the mission of educating people, implement the school’s “1396” development strategy, integrate internal and external resources, and use reading as a carrier to promote the integration of socialist core values into the entire process of education and teaching. I hope that teachers and students can take the reading season as an opportunity to cultivate a lifelong reading habit, make reading a way of life, achieve the integration of learning and practice, and enrich their spirit through reading。
Library director Ren Jingyu presided over the launch ceremony and read out the book season activity plan. The event will last from March to May, with the theme of “Tang Feng Brushes the Scroll, Viewing Mountains and Rivers”, covering five major chapters: “Digital Reading Integration”, “Traditional Culture Inheritance”, “Artistic Reading”, “Reading Incentive Ecology”, and “Diversified Co construction”. It includes more than 20 characteristic activities such as intelligent robot display, theme lecture exhibition, and “Reading Star” selection, aiming to empower campus cultural construction with reading and help improve the comprehensive literacy of teachers and students.
The launching ceremony kicked off with the violin piece “Wan Jiang” performed by the Music School teachers. The librarians and student representatives took the stage one by one, fully demonstrating the profound charm of reading through recitation performances such as the original prose poem “Standing on the Stairway of the Library” and the modern poem “Poetic China”. Hu Limin, a teacher at the School of Marxism, from his own experience ,shared his reading insights on the topic of “The begonia still accompanies the fragrance of books, The journey of self - growth is long.”; Student representative Dong Cheng issued an initiative to all teachers and students, calling for “making reading a habit and letting the fragrance of books permeate the campus”.
After the launch ceremony, the centralized display of library resources attracted nearly 800 teachers and students to participate. 19 exhibition booths were set up at the event site to showcase more than 20 library purchase databases, and the resource characteristics of each database were vividly introduced in a flash format. At the same time, materials distribution, on-site demonstrations, interactive gifts, and other forms were used to comprehensively promote the library's rich library purchase digital resources, improve the resource utilization rate and information literacy level of teachers, students, and readers.
At the same time, Professor Lin Faqin, a doctoral supervisor at China Agricultural University, gave an academic report titled “Promoting High level Opening up and Building a Strong Trade Country through Institutional Opening up”. With the guidance of recommended books, he deeply analyzed the historical logic and future path of Chinese style opening up, bringing interdisciplinary ideological collisions to more than 80 readers and injecting new momentum into expanding academic horizons for teachers and students.
This reading season activity is a comprehensive upgrade of previous “Reader Service Month” activities. By extending the activity time, deepening the connotation, and innovating the form, it deeply promotes reading from a “Temporary Trend” to a “Four Season Normal”, and continuously injects vitality into creating a “Cultural ShiYuan” and a “Scholarly campus”. In the next two months, all teachers and students of the school will share the beauty of reading in diverse activities and build a spiritual home together.
