To further advance the university's liberal education reform and enhance the effectiveness of the collegiate system in nurturing students, Party Secretary Chen Liang and Vice President Li Juan, along with relevant leaders from the Liberal Education Center, conducted an on-site investigation and guidance in Niushan Academy on May 29.
In Niushan Academy, Chen Liang and his delegation watched a student performance themed on red culture, visited an exhibition of the academy’s research-based courses, and gained a detailed understanding of the academy’s historical evolution and its motto. They focused on examining nine major course modules, including red culture, traditional culture, and academy history culture. These modules integrate moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education through research-based practices, forming a distinctive and culturally profound educational system that serves as a vital platform for fostering virtue and nurturing talent.
During the visit, Chen Liang engaged in in-depth discussions with faculty and student representatives, carefully inquiring about the outcomes of practical courses and suggestions for improvement. After fully affirming the academy’s achievements, Chen Liang put forward three key requirements for its further development: First, continuously enhance quality. Building on the academy’s unique strengths, efforts should be made to refine course development, faculty training, and practical activities, aiming to create a more exemplary hub for liberal education. A quality evaluation mechanism should be established, with regular follow-up surveys on teaching effectiveness to ensure sustained improvement in educational outcomes. Second, strengthen the deep integration of liberal education with teaching and research. Actively explore ways to organically incorporate the concepts and achievements of liberal education into the professional teaching system and research work, breaking down disciplinary barriers to achieve collaborative progress. This will drive the university’s educational reform to higher levels and provide robust support for cultivating well-rounded, high-quality talent. Third, further intensify publicity and promotion efforts. While solidly advancing all tasks, the academy should actively expand communication channels and publicity methods to comprehensively showcase its distinctive features and achievements in liberal education. This will enhance the academy’s reputation and social influence, creating a favorable external environment for its sustained development.
