From July 16 to 17, The final of the first “Nie Er Cup” National Speech Invitation Competition was held at Yuxi Normal University in Yunnan . Huo Xinyue, a 2024 Broadcasting and Television Directing major from our School of Journalism and Communication, stood out among numerous contestants nationwide with her solid language skills, profound content expression, and outstanding on-site performance, ultimately won the third prize in the finals.
The theme of this invitation competition is “Speaking of Patriotic Spirit, Singing the Strong Voice of the Times”. Since its launch in February, it has received widespread attention and positive response from all sectors of the country. Nearly 10000 athletes from more than 20 provinces (cities, autonomous regions) and Hong Kong and Macao regions across the country have registered to participate. Since the start of the competition, under the guidance of the Student Union Committee of the School of Journalism and Communication, actively organized and mobilized teachers and students to participate. Through extensive collection of works and professional evaluation, after layers of selection, Huo Xinyue advanced all the way with her speech work “Youth Answer in the National Song” and made it to the national finals with excellent results.
The achievement of this grade is a vivid practice of our school’s comprehensive literacy improvement project for students. For years, we have dedicated ourselves to creating diverse practical platforms, encouraging young students to sharpen their communication skills and broaden their perspectives through events like speech contests and social practice activities. Prior to the competition, faculty members provided systematic guidance covering topic selection, manuscript refinement, and stage presence training, offering full support throughout the process to ensure every participants success.
The School of Journalism and Communication has always prioritized nurturing students’ patriotic spirit, innovative thinking, and artistic aspirations. Capitalizing on this award recognition, the school will further enhance students cultural literacy and practical skills. We encourage more students to actively participate in academic competitions and cultural activities, honing their abilities through hands-on experience and expanding their capabilities. This initiative aims to cultivate new-generation talents capable of shouldering the great mission of national rejuvenation.
