Recently, the 9th Hebei Provincial College Students' Chemical Engineering Design Competition, sponsored by the Education Department of Hebei Province and undertaken by our university, was successfully held. Professor Li Chunli from Hebei University of Technology, the initiator of the Hebei Provincial College Students' Chemical Engineering Design Competition, attended the event. Vice President Li Juan attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
On behalf of the university, Li Juan extended a warm welcome to the participating teachers and students. She stated that the competition gathers outstanding students from various universities in the province, who interpret the future development direction of chemical engineering discipline with their wisdom and creativity. She expressed her expectation that all participants would promote learning through the competition and demonstrate the innovative vitality of young scientific and technological talents; explore new paths for green and intelligent chemical engineering by boosting industry through the competition; and build a communication platform for university-university cooperation and interdisciplinary integration by pooling efforts through the competition.
A total of 500 teams from 28 universities across the province participated in this competition, involving more than 2,500 students. Eventually, 34 teams from 28 universities entered the finals. The competition took complex chemical engineering design with actual engineering backgrounds as the proposition, and comprehensively examined the participants in terms of project feasibility demonstration, innovative design of process flow, engineering drawing, application of modern design methods, and team collaboration display, which multi-dimensionally demonstrated the professional growth and ability training of the new generation of chemical engineering students. After strict evaluation and wonderful defense, the "Fengchi Future Team" from Hebei University of Technology won the gold award, the "Manxiu Sulfoxide Team" from Hebei University won the silver award, and the "Jufeng Zhixin Team" from Yanshan University won the bronze award. Thirteen participating teams won the special prize, 19 teams won the first prize, and four individual awards were selected, including the Best Document Award, the Best Drawing Award, the Best Modern Design Method Award, and the Best Breakthrough Award. Students from the School of Chemical Engineering / School of Biomedical Engineering of our university won one special prize and one first prize.
This competition not only demonstrated the solid professional literacy, keen innovative thinking and excellent teamwork ability of chemical engineering students, but also built a bridge for in-depth integration between universities and enterprises, as well as between theory and practice. Meanwhile, many outstanding schemes with both technical feasibility and industrial value were put forward. As the host university, our school has always adhered to the concept of "promoting teaching through competition, promoting learning through competition, and promoting innovation through competition" and fully supported the organization of the competition. Through the competition, exchanges and cooperation between our university and other universities in the province have been strengthened, and the visibility and influence of the university have been further enhanced.
