To celebrate the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and carry forward the fine tradition of supporting the military and showing care for their families and supporting the government and loving the people, on July 31st, our university organized a symposium for representatives of retired military personnel on the “August 1st” Army Day. Vice President Feng Baoqiang attended and delivered a speech. The heads of the Student Affairs Office and the Personnel Office, as well as representatives of retired military personnel, participated in the symposium.

At the symposium, Feng Baoqiang, on behalf of the university, extended festival greetings and high respect to all the retired military personnel of the university. He reviewed with everyone the glorious journey of the People’s Army since its birth, which has gone through the smoke and fire of war and devoted itself to construction and development. He also expressed that veterans are the precious wealth of the university. They have practiced their original aspirations in teaching, management and service positions and have become an important force promoting the development of the university. He encouraged all the veterans to continue to carry forward the glorious tradition of “obeying the Party’s command, being capable of winning battles and having fine conduct”, and to take on heavy responsibilities and make new achievements on the new journey of the university’s “second entrepreneurship”. Subsequently, the representative of the retired military personnel affectionately recalled the unforgettable experiences of their military career, sharing the role transformation process and insights from “military camp” to “campus”. Everyone expressed that they would continue to carry forward the fine style of the military, which is “particularly hardworking and particularly combative”, and work in unison with all the teachers and students of the school to forge ahead hand in hand, contributing their wisdom and strength to the development of the school. The university distributed carefully prepared consolation gifts and heartfelt consolation letters to all the retired military personnel.

The holding of this symposium demonstrates the university’s high regard for the work related to retired military personnel and further creates a strong atmosphere of respecting, honoring, loving and protecting the military on campus. Taking this event as an opportunity, the university will continuously optimize the service and guarantee work for retired military personnel, improve the care and incentive mechanism, guide all faculty and staff to learn the excellent style of the military, gather a powerful synergy to overcome difficulties and forge ahead, and turn the “1396” development strategy into a brilliant reality step by step, jointly writing a brand-new chapter of high-quality development for the university.
