A team from Shijiazhuang University has secured a prestigious national award at the 5th National University Teachers Teaching Innovation Competition, held from August 16th to 19th at Beijing Institute of Technology. After intense competition, the team led by Professor Gu Dandan from the School of Chemical Engineering / School of Biomedicine was awarded the National Third Prize in the New Engineering Intermediate Level and Below category. This achievement represents a significant milestone for our University, as it is the first time the university has reached the national finals of this premier event, marking a historic breakthrough.
The National University Teachers Teaching Innovation Competition, guided by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and organized by the China Association of Higher Education, is the highest-level national teaching competition in China, known for its extensive influence and demonstration and ripple effects. Centered on the theme “Driving Teaching Innovation, Fostering Top Talent,” this year’s edition attracted 127,000 participants in the initial university rounds, 34,000 in the provincial competitions, with 2,253 teachers representing 588 courses ultimately qualifying for the national finals.

To ensure thorough preparation for the competition, the university leadership placed high importance on the process, making personal deployments and providing guidance on multiple occasions over the nearly nine-month journey from the university-level and provincial-level rounds to the national finals. The Academic Affairs Office and the School of Chemical Engineering / School of Biomedicine developed a multi-phase training and preparation plan, inviting both internal and external experts to provide comprehensive guidance in areas such as teaching philosophy, instructional design, teaching methods, innovative features and information technology. They dedicated full efforts to the preparation and refinement of the course materials. This achievement not only represents high recognition of the teaching capabilities and innovative spirit of the participating teacher team but also reflects the outcomes of the university’s long-term commitment to vigorously advancing teaching reform and emphasizing teaching innovation.
Moving forward, the university will use this Teaching Innovation Competition as an opportunity to adhere to the principles of promoting teaching, learning, and reform through competition. It will guide the majority of teachers to engage in teaching reform, continuously advance the construction of "Four New Disciplines", strengthen the cultivation of renowned teachers and teaching teams, and comprehensively enhance teachers' innovative teaching capabilities and instructional standards. This effort aims to provide higher-quality resources for cultivating more high-quality educators.
