Wang Zeng , an Alumnus of Our University, Won the 19th Hebei Provincial Social Science Achievement Award

Recently, the book Children’s Cognitive Development and Embodied Education by Wang Qian, a graduate of the 2004 Psychological Education major from the School of Teacher Education at our university and a researcher at Hebei Medical University, won the third prize of the 19th Hebei Province Social Science Achievement Award.
Children's Cognitive Development and Embodied Education was published by Tsinghua University Press in June 2022. It was coauthored by Wang Zeng, a doctor from the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a postdoctoral fellow from New York University, Zhang Pan from Hebei Normal University, and Professor Yue Xiaodong, a famous psychologist and a psychologist from Harvard University. This work is the first monograph on embodied educational psychology at home and abroad, which first constructs the theoretical framework of embodied educational psychology, deepens the understanding of the essence of learning, proposes embodied education as a key breakthrough in the new round of basic education curriculum reform, explores the psychological mechanism of embodied education, explains the difference between embodied education and detached education, and elaborates on its profound strategic significance and important decision-making reference value in the application of moral education. Since its publication, it has been printed 5 times and distributed overseas by China International Book Trade Group Co., Ltd., attracting significant attention from the fields of cognitive science, psychology, and education. Academicians Zhang Kan and Wu Xihong made prefaces for recommendations, while renowned psychologists such as Fu Xiaolan, Zhang Jianxin, and Luo Jin strongly recommended them. In 2022, this achievement won the 12th Chinese Psychology Research Newcomer Award (awarded to two individuals worldwide). Shanghai Xingta Primary School, Xuzhou Hanfeng Road Primary School, Langfang Education Bureau, Handan Education Bureau, Zunhua Teaching and Research Training Center, Shijiazhuang No.27 Middle School, Shijiazhuang Southeast Experimental Middle School, Hejian No.2 Middle School and others have carried out research and promotion of Children's Cognitive Development and Embodied Education, which has generated good social benefits.
During his studies at our university, Wang Zeng served as the president of the student union and published multiple academic papers. In his third year of college, he published one paper as the first author in the SSCI journal Chinese Education&Society. After graduation, he has been concerned about the development of his alma mater and deeply involved in activities such as mental health education at his alma mater. The achievement of this award is also an important example of the quality and growth ability of our school's talent cultivation. For seventeen years, Wang Zeng has been committed to the theoretical and practical research of embodied cognition and embodied education, and has become a well-known research scholar in related fields at home and abroad. He is a member of the Standards Committee of the Chinese Psychological Society, the chief expert in mental health education in primary, secondary, and tertiary schools in Hebei Province, the founder of the famous psychologist Cao Richang Exhibition Hall in Hebei Province, the free donor and director of all historical materials in the collection. He has presided over and completed nine provincial-level or above research projects, and published four books, meanwhile, he has established the first domestic and international experimental zone for holistic education covering all stages of basic education in Xinji City, Hebei Province, where embodied education is implemented to promote students’ all-round development.
