Five students from the School of Foreign Languages achieved award-winning success at the 8th Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Russian Language Competition for University Students, a prestigious event held recently at Hebei Normal University.
The competition, organized by the Hebei College Foreign Language Teaching Research Association, gathered over 120 participants from 21 renowned institutions including Peking University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Beijing Language and Culture University.
Demonstrating strong proficiency, all five representatives from our university secured honors. Li Yule, a first-year student, won the second prize in the lower-grade group speech event, with Bai Baosheng and Zhang Tengyuan receiving Excellence Awards in the same category. In the upper-grade group, Chen Peng claimed the third prize for his speech, while Kong Chuifa earned an Excellence Award. Faculty advisors Li Qinglin and Ding Qiang were also recognized with the “Outstanding Instructor Award”.
As a highly authoritative event in the region, second only to the national Russian competition in scale and level, the contest provided a platform for academic exchange and fostered collaborative development in Russian language education. The School of Foreign Languages prioritized the competition, selecting candidates through a comprehensive evaluation and providing targeted training by key faculty, which directly contributed to this outstanding performance.
Moving forward, the School of Foreign Languages will leverage this achievement to further deepen undergraduate teaching reforms, enhance program distinctiveness, and refine its talent development model to solidify students' language foundation and practical skills. The school also plans to expand collaboration with other universities in the region, integrating teaching with research innovation to cultivate more high-quality, application-oriented Russian specialists.
