On the afternoon of November 18, Chen Liang, Secretary of the Party Committee, delivered a "Situation and Policy" lecture themed Securing Victory in the 14th Five-Year Plan and Forging Ahead Courageously to the 2023 - cohort students majored in journalism.

During the lecture, integrating the efforts to study and implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Chen Liang systematically expounded on the following aspects from three perspectives: first, "scientifically formulating and successively implementing five-year plans" is a precious experience and important political advantage of our Party; second, the significant achievements in China's economic and social development during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period; and third, the orientation and positioning of the "15th Five-Year Plan". He pointed out that under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as its core, China has achieved a marked enhancement in economic strength, advanced the development of democracy and the rule of law in depth, witnessed the prosperity of socialist culture, made breakthrough progress in safeguarding people's wellbeing, and sustained improvement in the ecological environment. Particularly in the field of scientific and technological innovation, China has achieved leapfrog breakthroughs, with a series of major national strategic equipment making stunning appearances, injecting strong impetus into high-quality development. In combination with the formulation work of the university's "15th Five-Year Plan", Chen Liang emphasized the need to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. He also outlined the university's future development path with a focus on key areas such as further deepening the adjustment and optimization of disciplines and specialties, strengthening the cultivation of young talents, concentrating on improving students' comprehensive quality, and promoting the improvement of quality and efficiency in internationalized university-running.

Chen Liang pointed out that the 15th Five-Year Plan period is a crucial stage for China to basically realize socialist modernization, and also a golden opportunity for the students to grow into talents and make achievements in their careers. He encouraged the students to stay committed to their goals without deviation, clarify their directions and grasp their positioning well, and formulate sound career plans for their growth and development; to give full play to their advantages without straying off course, base themselves on the development of their own strengths, and focus on the main task of professional learning; and to accumulate progress steadily without skipping steps. Guided by the understanding that "A long journey is accomplished through small steps, and a vast river is formed by tiny streams", they should refine their moral character and improve their comprehensive quality.

The students all expressed that they will take this ideological and political course as an opportunity to strengthen their ideals and beliefs, enhance their sense of responsibility, integrate their personal growth into the national development process during the journey of advancing the 15th Five-Year Plan, and contribute their youthful strength to the advancement of Chinese modernization.
