Youth Movement Across Mountains and Seas: Hebei and American Youth Meet in Warm Exchange?
Our School Hosts Study Exchange Program with Oakland Institute of the Arts, USA
Release time:2025-11-24 10:15:00stamp
From November 17 to 22, a six-day Sino-American youth art and cultural exchange program was held between our school and a delegation of teachers and students from the Oakland Institute of the Arts in the United States. Centered around the theme Learning by Doing in Hebei, Cultural Exchange Without Borders, Reaching New Heights Together, the event built a bridge of friendship across the Pacific through music, art, sports, and urban exploration.
During the program, a Sino-American youth music gala under the same theme was successfully held at our school’s Shangwen Auditorium. President Wang Yongqin and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Ji Lihuai attended the performance, where students from both countries shared the stage, performing Chinese and Western classics to foster mutual understanding through music.
Breaking away from traditional tour-based formats, this study exchange created an immersive “classroom on the move.” At Zhangli Art High School, American students tried their hand at Chinese calligraphy, discovering the artistry of brush and ink. In the sports academy, friendly table tennis matches echoed the diplomatic legacy of “ping-pong diplomacy,” while a Tai Chi fan session introduced the philosophy of harmonizing strength and grace through dynamic movement.
From the ancient architecture of Zhengding Old Town to the industrial heritage of Zhengtaí Square, and from the vibrant lights of Wanli Temple Pedestrian Street to the modern vibe of MixC shopping mall, the students experienced a multifaceted and authentic China. At the Wanli Temple Lantern Festival, themed installations like the “Eternal Faith Palace Lantern” and “Galloping Heavenly Horse” skillfully blended traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, earning admiration from all.
The cultural immersion reached its peak when the group visited the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall. Gazing at the majestic structure winding along the mountain ridges, the students reflected on their experiences—the tranquility of calligraphy, the harmony of Tai Chi, the rustic beauty of ceramics, and the pulse of the city—all weaving together into a vivid and holistic impression of China.
Art knows no borders, and friendship endures. Through artistic and musical performances, industry-education integration, and regional cultural experiences, this Sino-American exchange enabled young participants to collaborate, connect, and grow together.
