On the requirements of the Central Committee and with the arrangement of the Provincial Party Committee and the Municipal Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee held the 2025 meeting for criticism and self-criticism on February 24. The meeting thoroughly studied and implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implemented the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and with the determination and perseverance to fight tough battles, unremittingly implemented the spirit of the Eight Rules, promoted the normalization and long-term effectiveness of work style improvement, pooled strength and worked hard with an excellent work style, and opened up new prospects for the development of the university. Chen Liang, Secretary of the University Party Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a concluding speech. Relevant comrades from the Municipal Education Work Committee attended the meeting for guidance.

The Standing Committee of the University Party Committee attached great importance to the meeting for criticism and self-criticism. Before the meeting, members of the Standing Committee studied and discussed around the theme, extensively solicited opinions and suggestions, carried out in-depth heart-to-heart talks, comprehensively and objectively identified problems, conducted profound analyses in combination with negative typical cases, and on this basis, earnestly wrote self-criticism reports, making full preparations for holding the meeting.

The meeting first briefed on the implementation of the rectification measures from the 2024 meeting for criticism and self-criticism, the rectification and improvement of the study on implementing the spirit of the Central Committee’s Eight Rules, and the opinions solicited for this meeting. On behalf of the leading body, Secretary Chen Liang made a self-criticism report, closely following the theme of the meeting, analyzing the causes of problems, and putting forward rectification measures. Subsequently, the members of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee made self-criticism reports one by one in a serious and earnest manner.

In his concluding speech, Chen Liang pointed out that this criticism and self-criticism meeting was highly effective, achieving the expected goals of exchanging ideas, enhancing unity, improving work, and tempering work style. It was a serious, democratic, united, pragmatic and realistic practice for inner-Party political life, further enhancing the cohesion and combat effectiveness of the University Party Committee.

Chen Liang emphasized that we must adhere to theoretical study, temper strong Party spirit, and hold firm the “compass” for running the university. Taking studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the primary political task, we must firmly uphold the Two Affirmations and achieve the Two Upholds, implement the higher authorities’ decision throughout the process of running the university and educating people, and escort the university's undertakings with firm political leadership and solid political foundation. We must adhere to development as the priority, practice hard work and practical implementation, and shoulder the “heavy responsibility” of fostering virtue through education. We must fully implement the new development philosophy, anchor the strategic development goals of the university, focus on key tasks and implementation，adhere to the original aspiration of educating people for the Party and talents for the country, deeply cultivate connotation construction, do practical things that teachers and students care about, and promote the university’s undertakings to move forward in an upward and positive direction. We must adhere to the responsibility, have the courage to overcome difficulties, and activate the “power source” for reform and development. We must maintain a spirit of striving and forging ahead, carry forward a pragmatic work style, face development bottlenecks head-on, never shirking or evading responsibilities, solve problems with pioneering spirit and drive, and promote the improvement of education quality and connotation construction. We must adhere to self-discipline and self-cultivation, remain honest and upright forever, and build a “firewall” against corruption and degeneration. We must shoulder the political responsibility of governing the Party with strict discipline, strictly regulate inner-Party political life, continue to improve work style, discipline and fight against corruption, strengthen supervision and discipline, create a clean and upright political ecology and education environment, and gather striving forces for the high-quality development of the university.
