Spring tides are surging, and it is the perfect time to forge ahead! On March 4th and 5th, 2026, the Fourth Session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) were solemnly convened in Beijing. With immense excitement, faculty and students of our university watched and listened to the live broadcasts of the sessions via television, radio, online streaming, and mobile apps. They engaged in heated discussions on the Government Work Report, shared visions for future development, and set off a campus-wide upsurge of learning and discussion.

In recent years, the university has continued to invest in digital teaching. Examples include the AI navigation system in the library, recording and broadcasting facilities at the Integrated Media Center, and the “Yueyin” app developed by our college team—all of which have provided strong support for our exploration of integrating tradition and modernity. In the future, I will make full use of these university resources to explore innovative expressions of traditional opera elements through the medium of pop music. I will also expand their reach via short-video platforms, enabling more young people to appreciate the unique charm and contemporary value of fine traditional Chinese culture.

The 2026 Government Work Report emphasizes “implementing the Project of Cultivating Virtue and Talents in the New Era and promoting the effective integration of ideological and political classrooms and social classrooms,” providing fundamental guidance for the reform and innovation of ideological and political theory courses in the new era. We will make comprehensive preparations for the implementation of the new plan for ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities in the new era. Centering on the high-quality development of the course An Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we will deepen collective lesson preparation and teaching innovation to lay a solid foundation for the development of ideological and political theory courses during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Meanwhile, we will deepen practical education by taking the “Six Ideological and Political Courses” as the transformation path. We will build a six-in-one practical education system consisting of “Case-Based, Activity-Based, Field-Based, Field-Trip, Cloud-Based, and ‘My’ Ideological and Political Courses,” driving the deep integration of the “small classroom” and the “big classroom”.

The arrangements in the Government Work Report regarding the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent, the deepening of “Artificial Intelligence Plus” initiatives, and the enhancement of international communication capacity have pointed out the direction for the reform of journalism and communication education. We will empower teaching reform with “Artificial Intelligence Plus”, integrate AI tools and convergent media production into the curriculum, and explore an interdisciplinary training model of “humanities + technology + art”. We will optimize the disciplinary ecosystem based on demand, dynamically adjust majors, strengthen industry-university-research platforms, promote employment advancement through a four-level linkage mechanism, and guide students to achieve high-quality employment in practice. With a sense of cultural responsibility to serve national strategies, we will guide teachers and students to draw inspiration from the practice of Chinese-style modernization, tell China’s stories well through lenses, and promote mainstream values with excellent works.

We will closely align with the needs of the regional agriculture and food industry, and deepen the integration of industry and education as well as the integration of science and education. Focusing on food security and seed industry revitalization, we will strengthen teaching and practice in improved varieties, sound cultivation methods and green production. In step with rural revitalization, we will carry out services such as agricultural technology extension, agricultural product processing and brand cultivation, and promote the application of scientific research achievements in fields and rural areas. We will precisely align with the needs of economic and social development, dynamically optimize major settings and curriculum systems, promote the organic connection between the education chain, talent chain, industrial chain, and innovation chain, and ensure that talent cultivation truly serves the upgrading of regional cultural industries and the high-quality development of the local economy. At the same time, we will strengthen the independent cultivation of innovative talents, actively explore the interdisciplinary cultivation model of “art+technology+ humanities,” and stimulate students’ innovative thinking and creative potential. We will build high-level industry-university-research platforms and strive to cultivate art and design talents with firm cultural confidence, broad international vision, and outstanding innovative capabilities.

We will continue to improve the pattern of great united front work, firmly grasp the historical position of the patriotic united front in the new era, implement the Party’s basic policy on religious work, actively promote education on forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, strengthen ideological and political guidance, extensively build ideological consensus, and draw the largest concentric circle.

This year’s Government Work Report has made systematic deployments on implementing a proactive fiscal policy, optimizing the expenditure structure, strengthening whole-process performance management, and strictly enforcing financial discipline. We will closely follow the requirements of improving education quality and efficiency and precise and efficient fiscal deployment, adhere to financial management in accordance with the law and standardized management. We will strengthen rigid budget constraints, strictly control non-essential expenditures, deepen whole-process performance management, and allocate limited funds to teaching, scientific research, talent cultivation, and livelihood security. We will organize in-depth discussions among teachers, strengthen curriculum-based ideological and political education, and explore the contemporary implications of fine traditional Chinese culture. In teaching classic texts, we will not only impart knowledge of language and writing but also guide students to understand the underlying patriotism, family-and-nation sentiments and national spirit, so as to implement the principle of “cultivating people through culture” in every class. Meanwhile, we will promote the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese culture. In response to the demand for talents driven by new-quality productive forces, we will add practical components such as new media writing and local cultural research. We will encourage students to tell China’s stories well in a modern voice and enhance their core competitiveness in adapting to social development.

I am greatly encouraged by the clear proposals in this year’s Government Work Report to “strengthen aesthetic education” and “implement the Aesthetic Education Infiltration Program.” As a vocal music student, I pay particular attention to the revitalization pathways and innovative communication of traditional arts. In recent years, the university has continued to invest in digital teaching. Examples include the AI navigation system in the library, recording and broadcasting facilities at the Integrated Media Center, and the “Yueyin” app developed by our college team—all of which have provided strong support for our exploration of integrating tradition and modernity. In the future, I will make full use of these university resources to explore innovative expressions of traditional opera elements through the medium of pop music. I will also expand their reach via short-video platforms, enabling more young people to appreciate the unique charm and contemporary value of fine traditional Chinese culture.
