From April 9 to 10, our university held a special study session focused on cultivating and practicing the correct view of performance for leading officials. Chen Liang, Secretary of the University Party Committee, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a mobilizing speech. University leaders and middle-level officials participated in the session.
At the opening mobilization meeting, Secretary Chen Liang delivered a guiding report covering four aspects: the profound significance, scientific connotation, practical approaches, and organizational guarantees of the study education. He profoundly expounded the core essence and practical requirements of this educational activity.
Chen Liang pointed out that the view of performance is the “master switch” for undertaking work and pioneering endeavors. From a political perspective, cultivating and practicing the correct view of performance is a crucial guarantee for ensuring the effective implementation of the Party Central Committee’s decisions and arrangements. From a development perspective, it is an inherent requirement for running education that satisfies the people. From the university’s reality, it is an urgent need to promote high-quality development. From the perspective of officials' growth, it is the only path to forge a high-caliber cadre contingent. All leading officials of the university must firmly establish the correct view of performance, always adhere to the original aspiration and mission of "cultivating talent for the Party and the country", unify their thinking and actions into all aspects of university governance, break through development bottlenecks, and build a high-quality cadre team.
Chen Liang emphasized that it is necessary to accurately grasp the scientific connotation of the correct view of performance: anchor on "for whom performance is created" and adhere to the stance of benefiting teachers and students; clarify "what kind of performance to create" with a focus on fostering virtue through education and high-quality development; understand "how to create performance" by emphasizing practical work and reform. Guided by the correct view of performance, the university will advance the construction of a first-class application-oriented university. We must create performance by fostering virtue through education and cultivating talent for the Party and country; create performance by adhering to high-quality development and improving the university's educational standards; create performance by serving the local community and integrating deeply into regional development; create performance by putting teachers and students first and solving their urgent difficulties and worries.
Chen Liang required that to ensure the session to achieve tangible results, all participants must deepen theoretical understanding by studying original works, texts, and principles to achieve thorough comprehension and internalization. They must pursue precision in problem orientation, identifying deviations against the correct view of performance, establishing rectification ledgers, and making immediate corrections. They must strive for breakthroughs in translating outcomes into concrete actions for work and entrepreneurship. They must enforce strict discipline and work style, abiding by study rules and promoting the transformation of work style through excellent academic conduct.
All participants watched the warning education film Typical Cases of Deviated View of Performance. Through self-study and collective reading, they earnestly studied Excerpts of Xi Jinping's Remarks on Cultivating and Practicing the Correct View of Performance and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech delivered during his inspection of Xiong'an New Area in Hebei and the symposium on further advancing the high-quality construction and development of Xiong'an New Area on March 23. Participants conducted discussions centered on the training theme, combining practical work and the special lecture by experts from the Provincial Party School at the beginning of the semester. They identified problems, formulated measures, and resolutely corrected deviations in the view of performance.
Participants stated that they will take this study session as an opportunity to unify thinking, build consensus, and continuously promote the high-level implementation of the "1396" development strategy. They will drive the construction of a first-class application-oriented university with solid work and tangible achievements, delivering a qualified answer that can stand the test of history, practice, and the people.
