On the afternoon of April 14, our school held the pre-competition mobilization meeting and departure ceremony for the 23rd Hebei Provincial University Games in the lecture hall on the second floor of the Teacher Vocational Skills Training Center on the North Campus. President Wang Yongqin and Vice President Feng Baoqiang attended the event. Also present were the heads of relevant university departments, the General Party Branch Secretaries of various colleges, the leadership team of the School of Physical Education, as well as the team leaders, coaches, and athletes of all participating teams.
The departure ceremony commenced with the solemn national anthem. Wang Yongqin presented the delegation flag, encouraging the team to strive for excellence, work together, and aim for new glories on the competition stage to bring honor to the university.
The head of the delegation and Vice President of the university, Feng Baoqiang, delivered a mobilization speech and put forward four hopes: First, always keep the responsibility of bringing honor to the university in mind, and win respect and applause for the university through civilized behavior and a vigorous spirit. Second, build up an unshakable confidence to prevail, transforming the hard work of training into the strength on the competition field, striving tenaciously to bring glory to the university. Third, uphold the sportsmanship of “unity, friendship, and progress,” fully demonstrating the moral standards and civilized conduct of Shijiazhuang University students by abiding by the rules and respecting opponents. Fourth, firmly establish safety awareness, adhere to scientific training and a balance between exertion and rest, and ensure to meet the challenges in the fullest, healthiest physical and mental state.
Gao Ya, a teacher from the School of Physical Education, spoke on behalf of all the coaches, stating that they would lead the teams with scientific training and teamwork, giving their full effort. He also reminded the athletes to compete with sportsmanship, respect their opponents, and prioritize safety. Li Yanchang, a track and field athlete from Group C, spoke on behalf of all the athletes, pledging to uphold the Olympic spirit, follow instructions, abide by the rules, and strive tenaciously to achieve outstanding results and bring honor to the university.
The university's delegation for this competition consists of 111 members in total, including 93 athletes from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Science / School of Physics, the School of Future Information Technology, the School of Geographical Sciences and Environment, and other schools. They will compete in four major categories: track and field, basketball, volleyball, and table tennis.
