Recently, the results of the 2025 Hebei Medical Science and Technology Award were announced. The "Research and Application of Quarantine Technology for Zoonotic Parasites" project hosted by Associate Professor Ju Huidong from the Department of Agriculture and Food Science of our university won the first prize.
This project focuses on the quarantine technical problems of zoonotic parasites, and conducts systematic taxonomic and molecular identification research on parasites transmitted by wild animals. The project discovered 4 new species of parasites and 2 new species recorded in China, established a new genus, and systematically revised the identification method of parasitic nematodes of the genus round in the digestive tract of donkeys.
The project results have been promoted and applied in many medical institutions and disease prevention and control institutions in the province, providing strong technical support for parasite monitoring, prevention and control, and clinical diagnosis. At the same time, the project results have also been used in teaching and talent training in the fields of pathogenic biology and animal husbandry and veterinary medicine in colleges and universities, promoting the construction of talent teams in related disciplines.
