A New Movement of Youth: Singing for the "15th Five-Year Plan"
----The 2026 Chorus Competition & May Fourth Commendation Meeting Concluded Successfully

On the afternoon of April 23, our university held the "A New Movement of Youth: Singing for the '15th Five-Year Plan'" 2026 Chorus Competition and May Fourth Commendation Meeting at Shangwen Auditorium. University President Wang Yongqin, Vice Presidents Feng Baoqiang and Li Juan, and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission Li Huilin attended the event to present awards to winning units and individuals. More than 2,000 attendees were present, including middle management, Youth League branch secretaries, counselors, faculty and student representatives.
The assembly officially commenced with the solemn national anthem. President Wang Yongqin announced the opening of the 22nd University Student Culture and Arts Festival. Themed "Academic Spirit in Hearts, Artistic Charm in Youth," this year's festival will feature over ten university-level activities from April to June, including commentary competitions, readings of "Red Family Letters," singing contests, humanities showcases, debate tournaments, photography contests, creative recycling projects, and themed artistic performances. The university also encourages individual schools to organize their own activities based on their professional strengths. These diverse cultural practices aim to foster a vigorous academic atmosphere of healthy competition and mutual learning, comprehensively enhancing students' overall qualities.
Prior to the chorus competition, the meeting honored a host of advanced collectives and individuals. Awards were given out for categories such as Excellent Yiban Student Workstations, Outstanding Communist Youth League Members, Upward and Good Youths, Red Flag Youth League Branches, Student Youth May Fourth Medals, winners of the Academic Science and Technology Festival, Advanced Units in Labor Education, Advanced Units in Recruitment Work, Excellent Youth Volunteer Service Organizations, winners of the Counselor Competency Competition, and May Fourth Red Flag Youth League General Branches. University leaders presented awards sequentially, encouraging young students to take role models as their sail and bravely shoulder the mission of the times.
The chorus competition invited five renowned experts to serve as judges, including Ma Guang (famous composer, Vice Chairman of the Hebei Musicians Association, Professor and master's supervisor at the School of Film and Television of Hebei University of Science and Technology), Liu Jianping (First-Class Director of Hebei TV Station, artistic consultant of the Choral Art Committee of the Hebei Musicians Association), Zhang Hongyu (vice chairman of the Choral Art Committee of the Hebei Musicians Association, Dean and Professor of Baoding University's School of Music and Dance), Wei Jianbin (vice president and secretary-general of the Hebei Ethnic Orchestra Society, Vice Dean and Professor of Hebei Normal University's School of Music), and Si Xiaosheng (vice chairman of the Choral Art Committee of the Hebei Musicians Association ,First-Class Conductor of the Hebei Symphony Orchestra).
Teams from 17 schools took the stage one after another, singing the powerful voice of the times. Students expressed their patriotism through touching melodies and displayed their youthful spirit with high spirits, presenting a magnificent audio-visual feast.
After professional evaluation by the judges, the School of Chemical Engineering/Biomedicine won the First Prize; the School of Law and Sociology, the School of Fine Arts and Design, and the School of Teacher Education won Second Prizes; the College of Literature and History, the School of Journalism and Communication, the School of Science/Physics, and the School of Foreign Languages won Third Prizes; while the School of Music and Leda International Art School received Special Contribution Awards.
The event concluded successfully amidst the stirring notes of the Communist Youth League song.
