Shijiazhuang University Presents a Stage-Based Ideological and Political Education Lesson titled “Chanting Classics with Strings, Nurturing New Talents with Elegant Music.”
On June 17, a stage-based ideological and political education lesson titled “Chanting Classics with Strings, Nurturing New Talents with Elegant Music.” hosted splendidly by Publicity Department of the Party Committee of Shijiazhuang University and the School of Music and co-organized by the University Youth League Committee and the School of Literature and History, was successfully held in the small auditorium of the North Campus. University Party Committee Secretary Chen Liang and Deputy Party Secretary Ji Lihuai attended the event, along with heads of the Publicity Department and the School of Literature and History, all faculty members of the School of Music, and over 200 teachers and students.
The entire performance, rooted in the spiritual essence of China’s time-honored classical poetry, breaks the boundaries between theoretical instruction and stage art. It integrates diverse artistic expressions such as vocal music, traditional instrumental performances, and narrative dance, creating an immersive and experiential ideological and political education scene. The 10 programs are meticulously interconnected and progressively layered, forming a complete and vivid cultural education practice. The opening song-and-dance piece “Guan Ju” conveys the beauty of traditional Chinese etiquette with its gentle and melodious classical tones, guiding young people to appreciate the virtues of moral integrity, kindness, and humility. The small chorus “Ode to Righteousness” reenacts the noble character of Wen Tianxiang, who sacrificed his life for justice and upheld his principles, allowing on-site teachers and students to directly experience the unwavering spirit of righteous scholars. “Long Song” and “Song of Tomorrow” deliver the life lessons of diligent study and cherishing time with lively and dynamic melodies, encouraging young students to cherish their youth and pursue excellence. “Born in Hardship, Die in Peace” expresses the dialectical wisdom of remaining vigilant in times of peace, guiding young people to cultivate a sense of vigilance and hone their skills. The melody of “Man Jianghong: Expressing My Heart” is grand and tragic, vividly portraying Yue Fei’s unwavering loyalty to the country and his fervent aspirations to reclaim lost territory, deeply instilling in young people a sense of national responsibility and integrity. As the performance concluded, all performers joined together to sing “My Motherland and I,” with their melodious voices uniting the faculty and students in profound patriotic sentiments, earning continuous applause from the audience.
This stage-based ideological and political education lesson adheres to the principles of nurturing people through culture and forging the soul through art, grounded in the integrated approach of “art + ideological and political education.” It transforms the virtues of self-cultivation, the spirit of striving, and the ethos of family and national responsibility from China’s outstanding traditional culture into stage artworks that are audible, visual, and tangible. Through immersive viewing and empathetic experiences, teachers and students savor the essence of classic cultural heritage and perceive spiritual strength, gradually cultivating moral sentiments and deepening patriotic devotion. The event serves as an innovative exploration by the university to revitalize traditional cultural resources and enrich ideological and political education platforms, while also being a vivid practice of fulfilling the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, advancing ideological and political education to be more profound, practical, and resonant.
