On the morning of July 10, the university held the summer vacation safety work deployment meeting in the first-floor conference room, to implement the work arrangements of provincial and municipal education authorities on vacation campus safety management and consolidate the foundation of campus safety management during holidays. The meeting was attended by Wang Yongqin, President of the university; Ji Lihuai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Feng Baoqiang, Vice President; and Li Huilin, Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection. All heads of middle-level departments across the university participated in the meeting.

President Wang Yongqin put forward three requirements for the thorough and detailed implementation of safety work.

First, attach great importance to safety work and adopt a high political stance. All middle-level cadres shall fully recognize the severe situation and paramount importance of current safety work, shoulder the heavy responsibility of security with a strong sense of political accountability, and spare no effort to maintain campus safety and stability.

Second, focus on core priorities and solidly implement prevention and control measures. It is necessary to precisely target key locations, critical links and high-risk periods on campus, refine work arrangements and roll out special control measures for key campus safety domains, conduct targeted screening and prevention of all types of safety risks, and build a tightly woven, robust all-round campus safety protection network.

Third, strengthen responsibility awareness and strictly abide by work discipline. The on-duty system shall be strictly enforced to ensure on-duty staff stay at their posts with unobstructed communication. In case of emergencies, response, handling and reporting shall be carried out at the first instance.

In view of possible extreme weather in the near future, the meeting required relevant functional departments to conduct a comprehensive investigation of campus safety hazards, achieving full coverage with no blind spots in areas including risks from dangerous trees, falling objects from heights, laboratory safety, power supply guarantee and examination safety. Departments shall also standardize the reserve and management of flood control supplies and reinforce regular campus patrols. Meanwhile, the university shall keep precise track of students' status, carry out targeted flood safety education, and effectively build a solid defense line for campus safety and stability during the flood season.
